When you are looking for work, you should take into account that there are different channels of recruitment. These are some of them:

  1. The Internet has established itself as the most used tool. Employment portals such as Infojobs and Infoempleo in Spain and Monster, an international website, are the best known.
  2. Companies’ own websites are another highly useful resource. Many companies conduct their selection processes on the basis of the resumé they receive through their own websites. These resumé should be completely up-to-date and also refer to a specific interest, i.e. to an advertised position.
  3. Print media  (eg, national newspapers, especially those at the weekend), carry advertisements by recruitment agencies and companies looking for people like you.
  4. Job forums are a resource you should not neglect. These events enable you to approach stands that interest you and leave your resumé there. The people staff on the stands are normally from Human Resources departments and can answer all your queries regarding the vacancies they have open, how the selection process works, how to apply for a post, and so on.
  5. Specialist consultancies are another very important source of recruitment. They can be found through Internet search engines. They work for HR departments of companies looking for people and also help with ongoing selection processes.
  6. Finally, don’t forget to consult your network of friends who work in companies that might be interesting for you. Send them your resumé and ask them to pass it on to the HR department. You never know… with a bit of luck!
